Religion of Peace update: Hamas shell game

Yesterday, a 21-year-old Muslim lunatic blew himself up in a Tel Aviv restaurant, wounding more than 40 people and murdering 9 more, including a woman who died in front of her husband and children. During Passover. All in the name of Islam. Again.

The mother was one of nine people killed by the baby-faced suicide bomber, who carried a dark bag stuffed with 10 pounds of explosives, walked up to a falafel restaurant during the lunch hour crush Monday and triggered the detonator when a security guard checked the bag.

Six of the victims died on the spot. One of them was the guard, whose body was ripped in half by the explosion. Three died later in hospitals.

The blast shattered car windshields and blew out the windows of nearby buildings. Glass shards and blood splattered the ground up to 25 yards away. Hospital staff said the bomb was packed with a large number of nails and metal bolts to maximize the carnage.

Only this time, the official government of the Palestinians, led by Hamas, praised the action.

Monday’s bombing was the first inside Israel since Hamas came to power at the end of March. Islamic Jihad threatened more attacks, saying it had trained 70 more potential bombers — both men and women.

Hamas officials defended the blast as a justified response to Israeli military strikes against the Palestinians. Hamas, which has carried out scores of suicide bombings since the early 1990s, has largely observed a truce since last year but refuses to renounce violence and recognize Israel’s right to exist.

Islamic Jihad, which is believed to be funded in part by Iran, refuses to observe a cease-fire. Hamas officials have said they would not try to stop or arrest members of other militant groups trying to carry out attacks.

Nice, eh? Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the attack on civilians was “the natural result of continued Israeli aggression and escalation and can only be considered a form of self-defense.”

Self-defense? Hamas won’t even consider the idea of Israel’s right to exist, and Palestinians think they are the ones defending themselves?

How do you negotiate with people like this?

like it’s gonna come down to
a 200 kiloton enema. I hear
that miles and miles of glass
are a good deterrent to terrorism…

This attack, and violence like it, probably come as no surprise to any of you. It certainly didn’t surprise me. But I’m disgusted by it. And by the way it’s just dismissed. The sad thing is, this wasn’t even the lead story in today’s news, it’s already faded into a page two position, obscured by the weeks-old Duke rape case, Moussaoui’s insanity defense, and Neal Young’s insane impeachment ramblings.

In the meantime, we’ve got Arabs falling all over themselves to congratulate the terrorists. An Egyptian state-controlled newspaper already praised the bombing, calling it “an act of sacrifice and martyrdom.”

Via Michelle Malkin:

And Qatar is kicking in $50 million for the Palestinian pledge drive–joining our “friends” Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates as government sponsors of Hamas terrorism.

Now, the big question is, how should Israel respond? We commented back and forth recently about Jews and Arabs being brutal to one another. Should the Israeli government respond to what amounts to a state-sanctioned attack by the Palestinians? Meaning, it’s not just a random terrorist asswipe killing innocent civilians, it’s an act of war by the Palestinian government.

And while it happens, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas conveniently condemns the attack and insists that Palestinian security forces are under his control, not Hamas.

Wink, wink, nudge nudge.

There are five official Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) Sites (currently active online)

Eight service providers keep them online, and they have been doing so for months – in some cases, years.

You will find that six of those service providers are American companies.

Should we be waiting for someone else to deal with the problem?
