Spider-Man’s new BLACK costume!
Sony just released its first look at Spider-Man’s new costume. At first glance, it appears that the photo is simply black and white. But the buzz among fanboys is that this is actually a new black costume. But there’s no confirmation yet as to whether that means the alien symbiote – Venom – will be the new villain. Spider-Man 3 is set for relase 5/4/07. (h/t: Superhero Hype!)
Although it’s still pretty cool, I must confess that I’m a bit disappointed if this is their version of a “new” black costume. The raised webbing and texture they’ve used up to this point have been a very good interpretation of the comic book. But if they’re going after the Venom/symbiote costume, they should have stayed a bit closer to the original design (like the fan-retouched version on the right): just simple black with no webbing. And the big white spider and eyes.
Regardless of what they go with, the idea of a CGI Venom character has me nearly soiling my armor.
