Democrat dystopia

The Left seems to have a severe case of selective amnesia.

Whether it’s their overlooking of Clinton’s Echelon program when they lambaste Bush for the NSA spying on Al Qaeda suspects, or Democrat Senators overlooking how Republicans treated Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Stephen Breyer with courtesy and tolerance during the SCOTUS approval process while Democrats have sniped at Sam Alito, or ignoring their own culpability while attempting to paint the Abramoff calumny as a purely Republican scandal, the Left still has trouble telling the truth and is taking hypocrisy to new lows.

But the most egregious lapse of memory is their recent about-face on the war in Iraq and their attempts to politicize it while distancing themselves from accountability. This is especially evident in their tired list of talking points which they use to denigrate the war in Iraq.

The Bush Administration in general, and the Vice President and his office in particular, pressured the Central Intelligence Agency to exaggerate evidence that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction.

- The President and his administration intentionally misled the country into war with Iraq.

- Helping democracy take root in Iraq was a postwar rationalization by the Bush administration; it was an argument that was not made prior to going to war.

- Saddam Hussein posed no threat.

- There were no links between al-Qaeda and Iraq.

- President Bush and his administration wrongly tried to link Iraq and Saddam Hussein to the September 11 attacks.

- President Bush has shown an “arrogant disrespect” for the United Nations on Iraq.

- The President launched a “unilateral attack on Iraq.”

- Flights out of the country for members of the bin Laden family were allowed before national airspace reopened on September 13, 2001.
