Best and Worst of 2005
Alright, alright, I’ve been enjoying the new year too much and just haven’t taken the time to blog. It’s taken me long enough to get it together, but here it is. For those of you who give a crap, here’s my list of the best and worst of 2005.
TV Favorites of ’05
Inked: Being that I’m very into tattoos, this show is a gimme for me. The artists are incredible. But the amount of drama that goes on in the Hart & Huntington shop in Vegas is surprising.
Miami Ink: A similar tattoo show, but the personalities are much more laid back. Seeing more about the clients being tattooed (and why they pick their designs) makes for a more interesting show.
Dog the Bounty Hunter: Duane “Dog” Chapman is the poster boy for redemption, being that he’s a reformed felon now working on the right side of the law. I applaud his moral stance as well as the way he gets the job done.
Breaking Bonaduce: A self-described train wreck, but a compelling show to watch. I applaud his business sense in capitalizing on our voyeuristic impulses as well as his honesty in letting the cameras capture every weak point of his character.
The Soup: I was sad when hottie host Aisha Tyler quit the show back in 2002. But new host Joel McHale has won me over and is one of the funniest guys on TV.
Movie Favorites of ’05
Serenity: One of the most refreshing and different sci-fi flicks of the last decade.
Batman Begins: Dark and angry, they finally got the formula right again. And Christian Bale nailed the role.
Rent: Big-screen adaptation of the musical. It’s a touching story about unconditional love and the celebration of life. Incredible music and talent.
Sin City: Dead-on adaptation of Frank Miller’s noir graphic novels. Lots of gritty fun.
Crash: A frank and edgy look at racism and prejudice.
Star Wars – Revenge Of The Sith: Come on, ya gotta love Darth Vader! And Yoda kicking more ass with a lightsaber is just too much fun to miss.
King Kong: The big ape looks better than ever. And Peter Jackson succeeds in making us care about him.
