Hillary Clinton is looking to stir up a little street cred with her Dem base by jumping on the “Smash Libby” bandwagon.

2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is blasting former top White House aide Lewis Libby for allegedly lying to investigators, saying his decision to leak CIA employee Valerie Plame’s name to the press was “simply reprehensible.”

“Taking such action for political purposes is simply reprehensible and should never be tolerated,” Clinton complains in a statement posted to her web site.

I guess it truly does take one to know one. Does anyone remember Hillary’s experience in lying to a grand jury during the whole Travelgate investigation?

In 2000, then-Independent Counsel Robert Ray issued his final report on the Travelgate probe, where he concluded: “The overwhelming evidence establishes that Mrs. Clinton played a role in the decision to fire the [travel office] employees and thus her statement to the contrary under oath to this office is factually false.”

How can anyone take her seriously on this? I find it hard to take her seriously on anything actually, but when it comes to acting sanctimonious about lying to investigators, neither Clinton has any ground to stand on. (h/t: Ace Of Spades)

UPDATE: In other hypocrite news, Jonathan at Crush Liberalism posted about Ted Kennedy’s recent bloviation on White House scandals. I guess ‘ol Teddy slept through the 90′s, eh?

UPDATE: Generation Why points out more Democrat subterfuge and shows why their message just doesn’t resonate with the public (though not for lack of trying).
