Bush tricks Left, treats Right

Posted 31 Oct 2005 in conservatism, Democrats, liberals, SCOTUS, stupidity

President Bush succeeded in scaring the pants off the Democrats with today’s announcement of his next nominee for the Supreme Court seat soon to be vacated by Sandra Day O’Connor. Sam Alito is a conservative judge, many say in the mold of Scalia (the most conservative on the SCOTUS). That alone is enough reason to cause loss of bladder control among the jackasses, er, Democrat party faithful. He sounds pretty much like the kind of strict constructionist I’ve been hoping for (at least based on his comments this morning). Every time that I have entered the courtroom during the past 15 years, I have been mindful of the solemn responsibility that goes with service as a federal judge. Federal...

Looks like I’ve been tagged. So to pay it forward, here are a few of the blogs I’ve been reading recently (I read all the blogs in my blogroll shown at the right, but these are a few selects): The Anchoress – Some great level-headed analysis of politics. Pretty dead on IMO. Anti-Media – A very good blog on politics, also a good source of dissecting media bias. Boys Wear Pants, Men Wear Trousers – Josh is a talented writer who approaches daily events from right of center, with wit and personal perspective. Hector Vex – A great sense of humor, imaginative experimental blogging, and cereal of the week! Tony Pierce’s busblog – Political rants from the somewhat left,...

One more hottie to enjoy (try not to drool). This is Kitana Baker, the newest face of Vampirella, best known for her pillow fight with Pamela Anderson in the Miller Light commercial. Oh great, now I’m drooling…

Perjury on the right, hypocrisy on the left

Posted 29 Oct 2005 in Democrats, hypocrisy, liberals

With the salivation on the Left over yesterday’s developing story of Lewis “Scooter” Libby’s indictment on perjury charges, the word hypocrisy just keeps coming up in my mind. Mind you, if Libby did commit perjury – which the prosecutor is already assuming, based on some VERY biased and decidedly unfair comments he made in the media – then I think he needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Unlike certain U.S. Presidents who were found guilty, but let off the hook by Liberals in the Senate. Both legally and in the hearts and minds of Democrat lemmings. Then I saw this over on Right Wing News. It’s the “Name The Liberal Hypocrite” quiz! And now,...

Beam me WAY up, Scotty

I imagine many basement-dwelling Trekkers are feeling conflicted over today’s news that George Takei just came out of the Enterprise’s closet (not that there’s anything wrong with that…) LOS ANGELES – George Takei, who as helmsman Sulu steered the Starship Enterprise through three television seasons and six movies, has come out as a homosexual in the current issue of Frontiers, a biweekly Los Angeles magazine covering the gay and lesbian community. Takei told The Associated Press on Thursday that his new onstage role as psychologist Martin Dysart in “Equus,” helped inspire him to publicly discuss his sexuality. The current social and political climate also motivated Takei’s disclosure, he said. No surprise to anyone who’s listened to the Howard Stern...

Seacrest out. Now Miers out, too.

Posted 27 Oct 2005 in liberals, SCOTUS

After weeks of being buffetted by both sides, Harriet Miers has withdrawn her nomination for SCOTUS justice. Shockeroo. I just hope that President Bush can (quickly) get another nominee whose qualifications are better suited for the Supreme Court. And it should be a strict constructionist (as promised) with a judicial track record. Someone that conservatives can get behind and support through what will surely be a nasty debate and confirmation process. And I hope conservatives will remember which side they’re on this time. A lot of us ran too many plays from the Liberal playbook on this one. There are a lot of good, qualified candidates out there. Let’s hope Bush stumbles across one. —UPDATEAs expected, bloggers are sounding...

What about the WMDs?

We’ve seen a lot of antiwar protesters recently, sporting signs with slogans like “Bush lied, soldiers died” and “No WMDs in Iraq”. There’s been plenty of hateful rhetoric accusing President Bush of misleading everyone about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein, and basically “lying us into an unjust war.” If you read the liberal blogs, these quotes (and many others just like them) are repeated ad nauseam. Did someone actually lie to the American public about Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction? “One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line.”–President Bill Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 “If Saddam rejects...

Kerry’s 180

268 days ago, John Kerry promised, on national TV, to sign form SF-180 and release his military records. 158 days ago, John Kerry signed form SF-180 to release his military records. So when will we see the records? Will the Globe post the documents? Will Kerry release the 180 so we can see exactly what he authorized for release (and to whom)? Polipundit asks, ‘Where are the missing pages?’ Mark at USS Neverdock asks, ‘Did Kerry sign Part III of the Form 180?’ You can remind Kerry of his promise by clicking here. You can join the Kerry 180 Blogburst by clicking here. The passing of a legend

Posted 25 Oct 2005 in racism

Today the world is a better place, but is a poorer place. Rosa Parks, mother of the civil rights movement, has died yesterday at age 92. She was a woman of tremendous courage, whose defiance of racial injustice sparked an awakening in America. Does anyone remember the guy who drove the bus that day? Does anyone remember the guy who fingerprinted her after she was arrested? Does anyone remember any of the multitude of dolts who went along with the legally racist mindset of the day? No, and rightfully so. Thank you, Mrs. Parks, for standing up by sitting down.

Episode III: Revenge of the Asshats

Like a bad case of Montezuma’s Revenge, Cindy Sheehan just won’t go away. She’s telling the MSM “me love you long time” and planning another media stunt which will shame the memory of her dead son. WASHINGTON, Oct 23 (Reuters) – Cindy Sheehan, the military mother who made her son’s death in Iraq a rallying point for the anti-war movement, plans to tie herself to the White House fence to protest the milestone of 2,000 U.S. military deaths in Iraq. “I’m going to go to Washington, D.C. and I’m going to give a speech at the White House, and after I do, I’m going to tie myself to the fence and refuse to leave until they agree to bring...
