Bill Whittle: “Tribes”

Posted 09 Sep 2005 in disaster, responsibility

The hair on my arms is standing up.

I’ve just read what is quite possibly the best essay I’ve ever seen about personal responsibility. I wish we could have a presidential candidate who believes – and speaks – the way Bill Whittle writes. He’d have my vote in a heartbeat, regardless of political party.

His post about “Tribes” cuts through race as well as party lines. Right through excuses and namby-pamby whining. And right down the middle of what makes America great, and what is making us weak.

Ok, ok, I’ll stop gushing. But it’s a damn good post. Go read it. It’s especially appropriate in light of all the finger-pointing going on in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. (Multiple hat tips: The Wide Awakes, Antimedia, Boys Wear Pants)

Which tribe do you belong to? Be honest with yourself.
