Some new reads

Posted 04 Sep 2005 in media bias

Reading blogs as I do, I come across a lot of different points of view. And lots of different news sources as well. Thankfully, I wind up stumbling across a lot more information than I would if I simply parked my ass on the sofa and watched CNN or Fox News or any other network.

I make sure to read stuff on the left as well as the right. I enjoy Matthew Good and Daily Kos just as much as I like Hector Vex and Moxie (even though I tilt more toward the latter two). And Tony’s Busblog is a daily read, of course. But in the comments over the past few days, I saw some thoughts posted by a guy named Joshua which prompted me to follow the link back to his blog, Boys Wear Pants, Men Wear Trousers. I haven’t read all his posts yet, but it’s some interesting reading.

Another one I found from Tony’s comments section (always an interesting arena of debate) is Holywriter. What I’ve read so far has been some good, old-fashioned rational thought; a commodity in short supply.

Antimedia is another good’un I found. With all the recent fingerpointing going on, he seems to have a good sense of federal vs. local responsibility. His regular posts are dedicated to uncovering what he perceives as media bias, as the name of the blog indicates. Whether you agree with his opinions or not, he’s got quite a lot of facts buttoned up. And I happen to like his style.

Last on on the list today is traci’s new blog, color me purple… of it. Yes, she’s my girlfriend, so one would think I’m duty-bound to recommend her. But it’s not that. If any of you knew me better, you know I’m even more reluctant to do something if I think I’m expected to do it. Thing is, I think she’s a very talented writer and I’m so happy to see her shed her timidity and spread her literary wings. It’ll be interesting to see where she pilots her new blog.

UPDATE: Something I meant to post last week (but got distracted) is GulfSails, a blog from a guy who’s in the middle of all this mess in New Orleans. I’m sure, as time goes on, we’ll see more blogs from the Katrina-affected areas, but here’s one I know of so far.
