MoveOn.org has really outdone themselves. They’ve topped the pinnacle of Liberal madness by using images of the Hurricane Katrina aftermath to score points against Supreme Court nominee John Roberts in an upcoming television commercial.

MoveOn.org Political Action plans to unveil a TV ad on Monday that questions whether Roberts is sensitive enough to civil rights concerns to lead the Supreme Court. The ad suggests that the plight of the mostly African-American evacuees in New Orleans showed that poverty remains a serious problem among minorities, said Ben Brandzel, the group’s advocacy director. In a mix of judicial and racial politics, the ad then suggests that minorities could suffer if the Senate confirms Roberts.

Of course, after word of this blatant propaganda got out in the press, they quickly backpedaled, issuing a press release stating that they aren’t going to do any such thing.

“We have no plans, and have never had plans, to produce such an ad,” said Eli Pariser, the group’s executive director.

Bullshit, Mr. Pariser. Your own advocacy director was quoted yesterday saying,

“The connection is obvious. The images after Hurricane Katrina show we still live in a society where significant racial inequities exist. We believe John Roberts’ record on civil rights … is clearly not the direction our country needs to head now.”

Your guy didn’t just make this shit up and decide to announce it to the press. You got your dick caught in the door and now you’re realizing the extent of the damage this ad will do. It’s clear that you lie in your ads. Now you’re lying in your press statements as well (which is probably nothing new).

Stoking the flames of racism for political gain continues to divide our country and encourages an atmosphere of hostility between blacks and whites. I’m appalled that people continue to support this kind of camouflaged bigotry. (Hat tip: Moonbattery, Little Green Footballs, Drudge)
