Hate Bush later. Help today.

I’ve been wanting to post something lately, but with all the shocking news and pictures related to the flooding and hurricane damage, I’ve done a lot more reading instead.

The more I read, the worse things look. And I’m not just talking about the horrors happening in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

I am sickened and disgusted at how some on the extreme Left are wasting no time to politicize the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Many who usually rip on how “stupid” Bush is, have made extra sure to find fault in every breath the President takes. Even to the point of lying in order to do so.

The Huffington Post put up a pic of the President playing the guitar and tried to make it look as though that was his response to the breaking of the levee in New Orleans.

President George W. Bush showing the nation that not even a major city being entirely submerged can prevent him from getting on with his life. And yes, this photo was taken Tuesday.

I swore I wasn’t going to get into the politicization of this crisis, but the ‘strumming and smirking’ photo shocked me into it.

Yeah, they swore they weren’t gonna politicize it. But just had to. Had to.

There were no shortage of other Leftist assholes piling on, eager to find fault with “Bushitler”.

“I swear, Bush is stupider than Reagan was after he got alzheimers, and he was stupid before that. What kind of polital strategist could Rove be if he allows Bush to do his pickin’ & grinnin’ act when the rest of America is literally in tears over Katrina?”

“Lets see…Nero fiddled while Rome burned (allegedly)…now Bush strums while New Orleans sinks…(realizing I am not the only one with this thought)”

“He’s detached, aloof…no amount of pretending will ever convince anyone he actually gives two shits about about the disaster. If it wasn’t his job, I doubt he’d even know about it.”

“He is an oil man; maybe that is why he is so happy.”

Even Tony Pierce, a blogger whom I enjoy and respect (even if I don’t always agree with him), just couldn’t help but join the blamethrowing.

Check out a contrast of Left-wing vs. Right-wing postings on Commissar’s Politburo Diktat blog. The difference between the two is very telling.

What the fuck is wrong with these people? They just don’t miss a chance to justify their hatred.

I suppose President Bush really IS a bastard for not piloting a helicopter and rescuing every single person still stuck in New Orleans. And for not personally stopping every looter. And for not rebuilding the levee himself. And for not spending the rest of his presidency rebuilding New Orleans, Biloxi, and Mobile with his own hands.

Or maybe once President Bush does make personal appearances at the sites of this disaster, he’ll be a bastard for making a photo-op of the tragedy.

Either way, the Left gets more to chomp on about Bush. People see what they wanna see.

I have my own issues about President Bush’s leadership, and the lack thereof. And I’ll post about that later.

But rather than bashing the President and looking for delight in the suffering of others, how about if we all find a way to help? Either contribute some time or money. Find a reputable charity. Find a way to help. Even a little bit.

The Red Cross
The Salvation Army
Samaritan’s Purse
United Jewish Charities
Catholic Charities: Katrina Relief
Episcopal Relief
United Methodist Committee on Relief
North American Mission Board Disaster Relief

Save your hate for another day. Please!

UPDATE: Instapundit and Little Green Footballs have a much more comprehensive list of charities. Find one that fits your opinions and give as much as you can.

UPDATE: Powerline has a good post about the blame game and the Army Corps of Engineers debunking the Left’s new line of attack. And another post which exposes the lie about N.O. not having enough National Guardsmen because of the deployment in Iraq.

UPDATE: As you might guess, I’m no fan of Bill Clinton. But even he is taking time off from scoring political points, and took CNN to task for doing so during the disaster relief. Captain Ed posted a good one about it here.

Thank you, Mr. President, for reminding people that our focus should remain on the difficult work ahead in rescuing the victims and starting the recovery process. Anklebiters, nitpickers, and partisan hacks should step aside and let the grown-ups take over.
