Bush helps minority businesses?

Posted 29 Jul 2005 in Uncategorized

A census report released yesterday indicated that the number of black-owned businesses grew 45%, four times the national rate of 10 percent, between 1997 and 2002. I wonder if the NAACP, which routinely condemns President Bush, will herald his part in this accomplishment. I know they’d certainly be the first to jump his ass if the figures were in the negative.

Ladies, red or blue?

Saw this over at Grouchy Old Cripple and just had to share.

Doom!

Posted 27 Jul 2005 in movies, pop culture

After having just finished Doom 3 (a damn scary game), I was pleased to find out that they’ve made a movie of the videogame franchise. The website went live today, and you can take a look at the trailer. The Rock plays the main character of Sarge. Looks good!

And now, a bit of fun

This isn’t quite what AlGore intended when he invented the internet. But it’s true. I particularly like the Howard Stern/Cookie Monster hybrid. Ain’t Flash grand?Warning: Not office-safe. Turn down your sound or put in your headphones.

Ok, so last month Madonna decides that she’s rejecting America completely and moving to England. After her recent anti-American album “American Life”, whose music video featured her in nazi-esque garb tossing a grenade at a President Bush lookalike, it’s no wonder she’s decided to move out. That, and her decision to make her album cover reminscent of the famous portrait of Marxist Cuban guerilla leader Ernesto Che Guevara. Attention Hollywood (especially Alec Baldwin), please follow Madonna’s good example and put your money where your mouth is. And don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

Me, strip?

Here’s something fun. It’s a cool viral from Gap that lets you create a virtual changing person (supposedly yourself) and then watch them strip/change. But take it from me, if you create an avatar of yourself it’s really weird to watch them do a little dance (think The Sims meets Napoleon Dynamite) and take off their clothes.

Dessert, Justice Souter?

You’ve probably already heard this story, but it’s too good not to share just in case you haven’t. After the June 23rd decision by the Supreme Court to obliterate personal property rights in favor of government profits (read: Eminent Domain), someone decided not to simply bend over and take it up the caboose anymore. Read the whole story here. Basically, they’re using the Supreme Court’s decision (which Justice Souter helped pass) to steal Souter’s own land from him in favor of something called the “Lost Liberty Hotel.” The proposed development, called “The Lost Liberty Hotel” will feature the “Just Desserts Cafe” and include a museum, open to the public, featuring a permanent exhibit on the loss of freedom in...

Bush didn’t steal Kerry’s flip-flops

I started out skeptical of this whole Rove fiasco. And it really looked bad for a while. Still may be for Rove, depending on what the final results of the investigation will be. In the meantime, I keep seeing the Left trying to play “gotcha” with President Bush. I even got caught up in it a bit as I prepared a post about the Rove issue earlier this week. First it seemed as though Bush said he’d fire anyone who leaked confidential information, then it seemed he changed to say he’d only fire anyone who broke the law. But in looking back through White House transcripts, it turns out the only revision comes from those already seeking fault with...

It really IS that easy!

Walking to my car in the parking lot at Target last night, I saw something a bit out of the ordinary. Someone had discarded a pregnancy test stick. A used pregnancy test stick. I know we all lead busy lives, but was someone in such a hurry to find out if they were preggers that the just HAD to drop trou right there in the parking lot and wee on the stick?

Good one!

Judging from the amount of rhetoric being generated by the extreme left hate machine (Senator Ted Kennedy, Senator Charles Schumer, Senator Minority Leader Harry Reid, Senator Hillary Clinton, and Senator Dick “Turban” Durbin), it looks like Supreme Court judicial nominee John Roberts must have sound judgement, decent moral values, and an outstanding legal mind. Because they’ve shown that they are diametrically opposed to those kind of qualities, especially on the SCOTUS. More on the way…
