Q’uran Q’uran
Why are we still getting all bunged up over this Q’uran/Koran thing? Why is the press continually looking to give our enemies reasons to hate us? Can you imagine what would have happened if we had our modern-day press during World War 2? We’d have never gotten anything done. And we’d all probably be speaking German or Japanese.
They keep trying to run stories about our soldiers desecrating terrorist prisoners’ copies of the holy Q’uran. Even after the clusterfuck that Newsweek started, they still just keep plodding ahead. I guess they’re not gonna stop until we have another 9/11 on our hands. The really maddening thing is, ever since they started reporting on Q’uran desecration, we’re finding that most of the stories are unsubstantiated anti-American propaganda being started by the terrorists themselves!! There have been 5 documented cases of Q’uran mishandling by American troops, and an additional 15 stories which have been thoroughly investigated and debunked as lies started by terrorist detainees. Cases where they actually desecrated their own Q’urans and tried to frame the Americans! What makes me really go bonkers about all this is that we are running all over, trying to cater to these nutcases’ religious sensitivities, and all it gets us is grief. We stencil directions that point to Mecca so they can do their daily prayers. We provide them with copies of the Q’uran and prayer mats to use. We even serve them special meals which adhere to their beliefs (the Muslim equivalent to a Jewish kosher meal). There is even an official military memo regarding proper ways to handle the Q’uran so as not to offend their delicate sensibilities!
These prisoners weren’t peaceful Muslims civilians, yanked from their innocent lives by evil American troops. These guys are terrorist soldiers, trying to kill or maim our men & women in uniform. And even once they’re incarcerated, they’re not just peaceful Muslims practicing their “religion of peace”. We’re only getting their side of the story, thanks to a press corps that wants nothing more than to shame our military and the Bush administration, no matter how far they have to go. They’d rather listen to anti-American groups like Amnesty International and put unsubstantiated stories of abuse on the front page. That sells more papers, and is more likely to cause further deaths of Americans, thus creating more anti-Bush sentiment.
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten”. Perhaps it’s time to take off the kid gloves and treat these maniacs the way they’ve been treating us. Our entire country seems to have completely forgotten the thousands of Americans murdered in the airline hijackings in New York, at the Pentagon, and that field in Shanksville, PA. Of course, I’m not talking about taking our children and strapping bombs and sending them off to blow up Muslims the way they do to their own children. But an escalation of force certainly might make the difference that’s needed. It seems, historically, that power and force are all that is respected in the Muslim world.
