Spare the rod, spoil the country

What the fucking fuck is up with five of the assclowns in the Supreme Court?!

Since when does the role of the Supreme Court include provisions for international law? I always thought their job was to rule on the Constitutionality of a given case.

Silly me. I forgot how the liberal mind works.

Now, it seems some in the Supreme Court don’t wanna use the Constitution for their decisions. The libs on the bench would rather defer to lawmakers in foreign countries.

Of course! Why didn’t I think of it before? We shouldn’t be our own sovereign nation. We shouldn’t abide by our own laws and be self-sufficient. We shouldn’t be the world’s leader. We should follow the example of Europe. Or hell, don’t bother to do that, let’s just let Kofi Annan run the country! He’s done a bang up job with the Oil-For-Food program in Iraq.

Case in point: Tuesday’s decision striking down the rights of 18 states. The SC ruled, in a 5-4 decision, that it was now illegal for minors to be executed in cases where they’ve committed horrendous crimes. They’re now allowing foreign nations to define what is “cruel and unusual punishment”, rather than taking on the task themselves.

Justice O’Connor put it succinctly in her dissenting opinion, “the evidence before us fails to demonstrate conclusively that any such consensus has emerged in the brief period since we upheld the constitutionality of this practice in Stanford v. Kentucky, 492 U.S. 361 (1989).” That’s only a few years ago, people! They issued the ruling back in ’89, but are already reversing themselves on it. Choosing international law as their guide this time instead of basing their decision on the Constitution.

She also said “the Court has adduced no evidence impeaching the seemingly reasonable conclusion reached by many state legislatures: that at least some 17-year-old murderers are sufficiently mature to deserve the death penalty in an appropriate case.

‘Zactly!

I’ve heard the argument from the other side. Those saying “young people with underdeveloped brains are not fully capable of adult reasoning.”

Hrmm. Funny, they seem fully capable of rape, torture, and murder.

And they are supposedly capable, at much younger ages, to make decisions based on having sex and/or abortions without parental consent. Sounds like the liberals trust the judgement of teens when it comes to killing babies, but not when it comes to murdering other people.

To be able to say “gee, I didn’t fully understand what I was doing”, and literally get out of jail free, that’s just plain wrong. Just like the so-called insanity defense. If the person who commits murder was a few burritos short of a fiesta plate, his victims are still just as dead. Besides, if the murderer doesn’t understand what he did, he surely won’t understand that he’s being executed, and won’t mind at all. Right?

Come on, folks. We’re not talking about executing poor innocent Eagle scouts whose crime was walking grandma across the street. These scum on death row, convicted of terrible felonies, are there for good reason. They were tried by a jury and found guilty. Their sentence was reviewed and approved by a judge.

And they have umpteen appeals, too!

It’s BULLSHIT to hand down a ruling that completely obliterates the judicial system. Individual cases need to be handled on a case-by-case basis. Juries will mete out a punishment based on the crime and circumstances. And even so, the judge always has leeway to prevent a jury from giving too harsh a punishment.

Besides, I thought liberals were completely against “legislating morality.” I guess they meant to say they’re against legislating morality when it’s not THEIR morality. It’s ok to murder the unborn for convenience. But you can’t execute someone who commits heinous murder. Nope, we’ve gotta protect those poor, misunderstood souls.

Nevermind that the blood of their victims cries out for justice.
