More gay toons?
Ok, now we’ve got another controversy regarding animation and homosexuality. But it’s not quite what you might think. The new stink involves Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings and a little show on PBS called “Postcards From Buster”.
I sounded off last week about the stupid issue that was made about SpongeBob being gay (or supposedly promoting a homosexual lifestyle because he holds hands with his friend Patrick). That was another idiotic supposition made by someone wanting to see an agenda where there was none. Just like the Teletubby thing a few years ago.
This one is different.
On a PBS show (government-funded), an animated character named Buster introduces the audience to two kids who have lesbian parents. Personally, I have no problem with kids being raised by gay or lesbian parents, just as long as the kids have a stable home with parents who love them and take care of them. But to have an animated show introduce the concept to an audience of children, when they may or may not have parents around, that’s too far. And coming from a government-funded show, to boot!
The Left routinely whines about “separation of Church and State” and “you can’t force your morals on other people”. Well, this looks like the flip side of the coin to me.
I won’t even get into how stupid it is to say “you can’t legislate morality”. That’s a ludicrous statement. Anyone who wants to debate it, bring it on. I’ll deal with that in another post.
No matter how you may feel about gay parenting, it’s a touchy subject. And one that violates the beliefs of a LOT of Americans. To just throw it out there in a children’s show is unacceptable. To have a government-funded show do it is just plain wrong.
Funny thing, though. How many of you remember Bugs Bunny dressing up as a woman to fool Elmer Fudd? I can only imagine what would happen if they were to try to make Looney Tunes nowadays.
