Iraq votes!
I was so slammed with work Monday, I didn’t even get the chance to reflect on what a historic day Sunday was. From what I can see, the vote in Iraq rates right up there with the fall of the Berlin Wall. It’s a huge thing for an oppressed people to finally be free to express their will in a democratic fashion. Not only in Iraq, but Iraqi citizens here in America traveled hundreds and thousands of miles in order to cast their vote.
(Note: the advent of democracy in Germany and the subsequent fall of the Berlin Wall, the demise of the Soviet Union, and the liberation of Iraq… all due to the policies and actions of Republican presidents Reagan and Bush. Not Democrats like Carter or Clinton. Thank you very much.)
Then I was staggered to hear John Kerry Munster droning on that the Bush administration was “overhyping” the election. Imagine that! An entire country of people who have been repressed for decades, finally being free. And President Bush, whose foreign policy and decision to oust dictator Saddam Hussein, is mainly responsible. But to actually point that out, or to point out that elections went off as planned, that is “overhyping”. Sheesh! If voting day had been the bloodbath and tragedy that the Left and the Arab fundamentalists were predicting and hoping it would be, Kerry would no doubt be lambasting Bush for causing the problem. But since the election went as planned, and was overwhelmingly peaceful in the face of threats from al Qaeda, that must mean that Bush is “overhyping” the event. If anything, I don’t think Bush or the Rebublicans play it up near enough!
Even if you hate Bush, and you think he lied about Weapons of Mass Destruction *cough* (Syria!), you can’t deny that his leadership has made an entire coutry more free than it would have been otherwise. Even if you hate Bush and think he’s too religious or whatever, you can’t possibly believe that the Iraqi people would have been better off under Hussein’s deathcamps and rape rooms. C’mon, N.O.W., where is your support of the liberation of millions of women in Iraq & Afghanistan?
Think what it would have been like if Clinton had accomplished something like Bush just did. Hollywood would be falling all over themselves to throw a tickertape parade. But I’m not hearing anything out of Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Alec Baldwin, Barbara Streisand, or any of the other idiots we usually hear from. Hrmmm. Now why would they be so quiet?
Oh wait, we have heard from one of the Left’s champions; Michael Moore. His website heralds an article “Iraq Vote Will Only be Historic if it Changes Iraq”. Yeah, that’s it. Just can’t admit he might have been wrong, has to keep putting qualifiers on America’s success. And adjusting it each time Bush’s success exceeds expectations. This from the moron who said “The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not “insurgents” or “terrorists” or “The Enemy.” They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow — and they will win. Get it, Mr. Bush?” I’m shocked and appalled that this bloated gasbag equates terrorists and murderers with the men who fought the British for America’s independence. America isn’t making a colony out of Iraq, we gave the coutry back to its own people. HUGE difference!
Crazy. Literally insane. But typical Leftist/socialist crap.
Mr. Moore, I’m happy to tell you, President Bush DOES get it. Unfortunately you don’t. But the good thing is, President Bush is the one calling the shots. And as a result, the coutry of Iraq is on its way to sovereignty and freedom. And here in America, you still have the freedom to be an ass. Enjoy!
The day after the Iraqi elections, Hillary Clinton pulls an old-style “fainting spell” to draw attention in the press. Oh please.
And today, two days after one of the most historic events in recent memory, what is the mainstream press doing? They’re going apeshit over the Michael Jackson trial! “Oh yeah, umm, Iraqis got to vote. Nice. Whatever. But hey, it’s time for the Michael Jackson trial! Yaaay!”
You gotta be kidding me. And you honestly expect me to believe the mainstream press ISN’T liberal?

It is refreshing to hear some genuine logic, for a change.
Yeah, I was surprised that anyone would downplay the importance of Sunday. I'm a big liberal, but seriously guys, recognize something good when it comes along. Sunday was truly momentous, no matter who you voted for or support.
Nice to see that we can disagree on some issues, but still come together as Americans. (Wow, imagine that!! Liberals and Conservatives being civil to each other!)
