Hack your brain

I’ve been doing some reading about binaural beat technology on ForeverGeek.com.

It’s an interesting concept. It’s supposed to be able to “program” your brain, much like meditation can. From what I’ve read, you can create the equivalence of several hours’ sleep, or several cups of coffee, or even an LSD trip. They say you can even simluate the effects of sexual stimulation. Hot damn, I’m gonna have to try these! It could be super cool, or else it could be really bad. Not quite bad the way it’s defined by Dr. Egon Spengler. But bad enough that I’d be wearing a bib to catch my drool every day.

We’ll see.

Supposedly, you can create these sound files, save them as WAVs or MP3s and put ‘em in your iPod. That would be awesome for listening before work to get the equivalent of several cups of coffee without the caffeine. Or to “catch up on sleep”, which I frequently need.

Here’s an article from the Monroe Institute on how it’s supposed to work. Another good article here, too.

This brainwave generator is Freeware, and is compatable with Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Caveat Emptor.
