Oh, that makes perfect sense
Shakespeare had it SO right in King Henry VI when he penned “The first thing we must do is kill all the lawyers“.
Anybody remember Andrea Yates? She’s that lunatic who drowned her FIVE children, one by one, in a bathtub. She was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. But her laywers have successfully gotten an appeals court to overturn her conviction.
For one, the lawyers involved should be disbarred for professional misconduct. Defending a nutjob like Yates is one thing. Everyone deserves their day in court. But trying to undo justice on such a ridiculous technicality is the reason why people hate lawyers. The justice system is SUPPOSED to be a place where the truth is found and justice is served. Call me crazy, but that’s how the system is set up.
When a lawyer tries to get their client off on a techicality, the judge is supposed to be there to sort through the facts and make some sort of wise decision, right? When a judge allows such tripe in court, he/she should be disbarred as well. The judge should have looked across the bench at Yates’ attorneys and said “are you kidding me?”, and summarily dismissed them and charged them with contempt.
Or at least smacked ‘em upside their collective heads.

I liked Henry VIII much better.
