Help us, Human Shields! Help us!

With elections being just three days away and car bombs going off daily, killing dozens of Iraqis, where are the “human shields” we saw in Iraq before the war started?

Those imbiciles had a stated purpose:

human shield volunteers would place themselves at strategic sites critical to the well-being of Iraqi civilians in order to make the bombing of these sites politically untenable.

Well, there IS a bombing that continues in today’s Iraq. And it threatens the lives of all Iraqis. Only catch is, it’s being done by other Iraqis. And the sites being targeted for violence are the polling locations for the upcoming election. I’d say that definitely qualifies as “strategic sites critical to the well-being of Iraqi civilians”.

Abu Musab Zarqawi clearly stated yesterday, “We have declared a fierce war on this evil principle of democracy and those who follow this wrong ideology.” This paragon of tolerance thinks anyone who doesn’t believe like he does is an “infidel”. And we all know what happens to infidels from Al Quaeda’s contemptible beheadings. After all, Islam is a religion of peace, right?

How can you have any kind of discussion with a zealot like that?

This nutcase is going to kill his fellow countrymen because they want to elect their own leader. He mainly wants to kill them because his religion might be voted out of power by the majority that has been persecuted for decades under Saddam Hussein. He’s come right out and declared what he thinks of peaceful elections where the people elect their own government (which is a representative republic, by the way, not a democracy). He doesn’t want peace or the rule of law. He want terror and fear to keep its stranglehold on the Middle East.

So, liberals, where the fuck are you now? Where are your signs, your lofty platitudes and clever chants? And more importantly, where are the “human shields” to protect innocent Iraqis from bombs? Were you truly concerned for the safety of other human beings in a foreign country, as you seemed to profess? Or were you simply getting in the way of the American military because you’re so blatantly anti-American?

Maybe you were against the idea of the war because you think the reasons for invasion were wrong. Maybe you think that just because Saddam successfully hid his weapons of mass destruction, and we shouldn’t have gone into Iraq and dethroned him. Maybe you are against the war because you want soldiers to wear garter belts with their uniforms. I dunno, and I don’t care. It doesn’t matter whether you’re for or against President Bush when it comes to Iraq.

The fact of the matter is, we’re there now.

We’re in Iraq and they are on the brink of a historic vote.

We toppled a cruel despot from power. We’ve helped Iraq start the engine of freedom. And MILLIONS of Iraqis desperately want a fresh start in their country and have registered to vote, despite the threat of violence and death.

So which side are you on now?

Do you stand on the side of those who want a free Iraq? Or do you stand with terrorist murders like Zarqawi who want to kill everyone who opposes his ideology and wants to go back to the rape rooms, torture chambers, and mass graves of the Hussein regime?

There are only two sides in this fight. Think carefully.
